Its engine had a 1086cc 30kW VW engine. One year later the production started in Stuttgart, Germany. The Porsche car was called 356 because it was the 356th project off the Porsche design desk. Then in 1950 Porsche builds the 1.5L flat-12 supercharged Castalia racing car with a driver. A controlled four wheel drive car was build! The year after, the Porsche factory makes a light-weight 356 model for Le Mans 24 hours race.

Then it took about ten years for Porsche to create a new sports car. At first it was called 901, but then the Peugeot protested because the already had a model named 901. Porsche then renamed it and now its called 911. So 1963 the Porsche 911 was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a 2L flat-6, air-cooled engine, 97kW at 6,200rpm. Later that year it was enlarged to 2.2L and also a 2.4L. 1964 Porsche started a 911 production.

Then they had the 4-cylinder, water-cooled, front engine 924 a new dearture; later developed into the 944 and 968. 1977 they started with a front-engine layout… the V8, water cooled 928. Porsche 911 had now a inter-cooled, 224kW, 416Nm with a 3.3L.
From 1981 - 1987 the Porsche factory concentrated at the 911 model. Year 1981 Frankfurt Motor Show the first 911 4WD was introduced. One year later they made the 911 Carrera with integrated bumpers. 1984 was a big year for Porsche because they win the Paris-Dakar rally with their 911 4WD. Year 1986 they had a Porsche 959 that finished first, second and sixth place in the Paris-Dakar rally. 1987 the Porsche 959 was a 911-based-group-B-rally car and it had electronic controlled 4WD with Dry/Wet/Icy settings. It had a lot of options like ABS brakes also. But only 200 were built for homologation purpose.
Year 1991 Porsche factory made a 911 type-964 (Carrera) 3.3L, 235kW, 450Nm, four-wheel drive car. The year after the Porsche AG take direct control of Australian imports, because there were many Porsche cars imported to Australia. 1993 the Porsche 911 Turbo gets 3.6L, 270kW engine. At au$270K, or $1/Watt, only 15 was sold in Australia 1994/95. Two years after, 1995, the Porsche 911 series 993 with 300kW twin-turbo, 6-speed, electronic control of 4WD and limit slip diff from the Carrera 4 and Porsche 959. 1996 Porsche wanted to make a little bit cheaper car.
